This master´s thesis deals with the juxtaposition of current situation in a business conditions for corporations in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Latvia from the viewpoint of principle economical aspects and of statute income tax, statute of value added tax, the trades licensing act, workscode and businesscode. On the basis of findings, the work includes comparison of business conditions for corporations in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Latvia.

This bachelor thesis is devoted to the competitiveness of Central and Eastern European countries. In the theoretical part the concept of competitiveness and methods of measuring macroeconomic competitiveness are described. In the methodological part indicators are chosen, by which subsequently in the practical part comparison of competitiveness of Central and Eastern European countries is carried out. The practical part of the thesis also deals with the comparison of re-sults of measurement of selected indicators. According to the chosen indicators weaknesses and strengths of Central and Eastern European countries are identi-fied. Finally, recommendations for increasing the competitiveness of selected states are formulated. In the discussion part, the achieved results are compared with the results of other authors, and the possible shortcomings of the chosen indicators are discussed.

Paramedic in Czech Republic and Latvia

The subject of my bachelor thesis is to compare the conditions of Paramedic´s work in the Czech Republic and in the Republic of Latvia. The main goal is to examine the differences in the emergence of the paramedic position, also the competencies of paramedics in both countries and the organization of cooperation with other rescue services. In the theoretical part I deal with the examination of pre-hospital emergency care systems and it´s structures along with professional and legal aspects of paramedic education in these countries. This theses dedicates special atenttion to examining historical aspects of the development of both republics and its similarities and differences regarding health care systems, rescue systems and the conditions these systems have on its workers. Another key point this theses is focused on is the education level of paramedics which creates the base for the differences in competencies. In the practical part the Bachelor thesis examines the current knowledge of rescue systems, which has a significant influence on the security and work conditions ot the Czech and Latvian medical rescuers. This is mainly a comparison of the geographical and social influences, organisational and regulatory factors, the conditions of operating security for the two health emergency services. In addition, an assessment is made of the approaches and differences in the practical application of the integrated rescue system standards In line with established research issues, this thesis focuses mainly on the comparasion of competencies of medical rescuers and the way in which pre-hospital care is provided in the Czech Republic and in Latvia, which will be carried out by an analysis of the interviews, decisive legal norms, regulations, analytical and methodological documents in the field of health care and medical rescue services in both Republics. The results of the examination shall be supported by the personal knowledge of the processor obtained during the course of the study practice at the Riga Medical Emergency Service during the February-April 2022 period. This work points out, by comparing the practice in the Czech Republic and the Republic of Latvia, the possibilities of enriching the process of training future medical rescues by the wider introduction of practical teaching throughout the course of higher education. The results of the work can be used for presentation at conferences, and to familiarize executives and trainers with the views of health rescuers

Comparison of lustration laws in Central European states: Czechoslovakia, Poland and Baltic states

The paper: "Comparison of lustration laws in Central European states: Czechoslovakia, Poland and Baltic states" describes the emergence and application of the lustration laws in context of the political transformation of these states from the begining of the 90s. The main objective of this paper is to answer the question, what are the differences and similarities in the functioning of the lustration laws in these states and whether there is a single explanation for their divergence. For this purpose the paper describes the political and historical background from which these laws emerged in each state separately. This part, among other things, outlines the concept of the "double-tracked" lustrations in Latvia and Estonia, where the laws followed both the collaboration rationale and the ethnical divide. The paper also aims to critically outline the most prominent theoretical approaches to the aforementioned question of the disparities between lustrations in different states. The second aspect of lustrations, which this paper examines, is their conformity with the standards of the European Convention on Human Rights. NATO's Challenge: Exploring the Persistence of the Alliance's Military Capabilities Gap

This thesis addresses the military capabilities gap between the US and European member states of NATO. It seeks to answer the question, why does the US-European capabilities gap persist despite apparent agreement between Allies on strategic capabilities objectives and cooperative solutions? The paper first establishes the need for a strong, independent European Security and Defense Identity within the Alliance, particularly since NATO's operations in Libya. It then defines and explicates the military capabilities gap within the Alliance, including its scope, history, and attempts to find cooperative solutions. This analysis demonstrates that there is broad agreement both on what the Alliance requires for military capabilities and for how best to obtain them (cooperatively), yet the gap has persisted and grown for two decades. In an attempt to solve this empirical puzzle, the paper employs a two-level games framework to analyze the NATO defense planning process, which links supranational capabilities planning for the Alliance to national-level execution, dependent upon funding from state parliaments. The Dynamics of Naturalization Process in Latvia and Estonia in the years 1995 - 2005

The restoration of independence of the three Baltic States occurred in 1991. However the previous period of Soviet occupation brought dire, and to a large extent, permanent changes in the ethnic composition of the population. The changes were the primary reason why both countries had fairly restrictive conditions in the revival of civil status - citizenship was given to pre-war citizens and their direct descendants. This thesis by comparative analysis tries to find out the main differences and similarities in the dynamics of naturalization process in Latvia and Estonia. The dynamics will be analyzed from 1995 to 2005. Latvian naturalization process began in 1995. The year 2005 is characterized by a dramatic changes in preferences of non- citizens, which probably occurred after the accession to the European Union. The first part presents the important concepts of the work and presentment of the two countries at the beginning of the 1990s. Then the comparative analysis follows itself. Naturalization is analyzed according to the characters, which, I believe, had the most important influence on the dynamics of the process - Citizenship Act (and its amendments), Language Act, the accession of both countries to the EU and other economical reasons. Dissent in the Baltic republics

Tadeáš Fořt Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with the differences between dissent in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. All groups of dissidents were influenced by international events such as revolution in Hungary in 1956, Prague spring of 1968 and the signing of the Helsinki Final Act by the Soviet Union. Even though all dissident groups reacted to those events, the form and motivation of their protests against the regime were different. Main differences between these groups lie in national and religious differences in Baltics. While Lithuanians did not have an issue with immigration from other Soviet countries, Latvians and Estonians were becoming minorities in their own countries which heavily influenced the priorities of dissident groups. Religious differences can be seen in Lithuania too, where Catholic Church was very popular and become the staging point of dissent as well as for example creation of underground media such as Chronicle of Catholic Church in Lithuania, one of the most influential pieces of samizdat in whole Soviet Union. Churches in Latvia and Estonia, whether it would be Lutheran or Catholic did not enjoy such popularity thus their influence was highly marginal. The "Non-citizen" Issue in Latvia during the EU Accession Process

The aim of this thesis is to examine the attitude of the European Union to the non- citizen issue in Latvia during the accession talks and its impact on legislative changes in Latvia in this area. The thesis asks such questions as whether Latvia has fulfilled all formal and informal criteria of the accession to the European Union concerning non-citizens and whether the recommendations that were part of the European Commission's regular reports were effective. Further I would like to answer the question how important the other two international bodies were, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the Council of Europe, and to what extent the European Union was dependent on their recommendations. Using primary and secondary sources, I will try to show that the main aim of the reports was to improve the situation of non-citizens in Latvia, bringing in the standards of the European Union. Becoming a member of the European Union, Latvia has theoretically fulfilled the required conditions; the question is what the situation has been like in practice.
